Lead Database Reliability Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Zealand.

📋 Description

• Lead the development of data strategies and practices for optimizing the functionality, scalability, and utilization of our databases.

• Plan capacity and fine-tune performance for the database platforms.

• Execute database-related project tasks, including the creation of migration scripts.

• Oversee high-risk data deployments and conduct post-deployment monitoring.

• Provide consultancy support to development teams in identifying risks and proposing effective solutions.

• Collaborate with both the data team and product teams to enhance data operational engineering practices.

• Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies.

• Promote and implement DevOps and SRE principles across Wellness engineering teams.

• Mentor and support the growth of other data professionals.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven ability to work independently, prioritize tasks effectively, and make informed technical decisions.

• Extensive knowledge in database reliability, performance, and management.

• Significant experience with relational databases, particularly SQL Server and Azure SQL.

• Proficient in advanced T-SQL.

• Familiarity with scripting and infrastructure-as-code technologies, including Python, PowerShell, and Terraform.

• Background in agile environments utilizing SCRUM and/or Kanban methodologies.

• Strong communication skills with a passion for collaboration and sharing ideas.
