This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.
• Provides leadership in the department's utilization of voter, worker, and member data.
• Assists in onboarding staff from IU and local affiliates with data-related responsibilities.
• Engages with organizational leaders and external stakeholders in complex, nuanced, and occasionally sensitive situations.
• Develops and oversees systematic processes that are shared across multiple campaigns or staff teams.
• Writes original SQL code for data manipulation in campaign reporting and information workflows.
• Creates reports and visualizations or maps using tools like Tableau.
• Demonstrates subject-matter expertise and thought leadership in enhancing the union's data capabilities.
• Manages SEIU's campaign data, organizing databases, and other technologies utilized in SEIU's political, internal, and external organizing efforts.
• Offers guidance and advice to SEIU Local, State Council, and International staff to improve the union's membership lists, voter files, and Voting Age Population data.
• Provides counsel to SEIU Division, Local, and Organizing campaign staff to enhance organizing lists, professional registries, and other potential organizing targets.
• Collaborates closely with management teams across various Departments and Divisions to develop targeted member, worker, and voter contact programs through digital outreach, mail, phone, worksite visits, and canvassing.
• Conducts thorough research and prepares comprehensive voter, worker, or member contact reports and other documentation (graphs, charts, maps) for use by SEIU International Departments, Divisions, or campaigns.
• Facilitates training for International, State Council, and Local Union staff in the utilization of campaign data and organizing technology.
• Represents SEIU in both internal and external forums while maintaining relationships with SEIU locals and state councils.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in political, issue, or union data/organizing campaigns.
• Proficient in SQL or other coding languages.
• Experienced in one or more project management methodologies.
• Expert knowledge of online databases (e.g., Voter Activation Network - VAN, Civis, and Catalist).
• Capable of building reports and visualizations or maps using tools such as Tableau.
• Proven analytical creativity, problem-solving skills, and experience in managing data programs.
• Familiarity with labor and/or political field organizing methods.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Capability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, regardless of age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, or job type.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment in politically sensitive circumstances.
• Proficient in managing multiple sensitive assignments promptly.
• Ability to assess how systems should function and how various conditions, operations, and environmental changes will impact outcomes.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to manage relationships in complex political and organizational contexts.
• High level of self-motivation and ability to establish and adhere to clear deadlines.
• Capacity to think beyond standard solutions.
• Proficient in using the Google Suite of tools.
• Experienced in utilizing geographic and mapping software.
