Lead Data Scientist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Oversee the design, development, and implementation of sophisticated machine learning, forecasting, optimization, and generative AI solutions.

• Collaborate closely with Finance leadership and other pivotal business stakeholders.

• Construct machine learning systems from the ground up and develop scalable data science infrastructure.

• Strategically identify the most suitable modeling approach for each challenge.

• Provide advanced expertise in forecasting, anomaly detection, and optimization.

• Convert model outputs into actionable business recommendations suitable for executives.

• Advocate for and implement long-term strategic initiatives.

• Work closely with engineering and product teams to ensure smooth deployment of models into production.

• Mentor fellow data scientists within the team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience as a data scientist focusing on predictive business models.

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in time series forecasting, anomaly detection, and/or optimization.

• MS/Ph.D. in Data Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.

• Strong expertise in SQL and Python.

• Extensive knowledge of the data science ecosystem (e.g., PyTorch, Transformers, scikit-learn, XGBoost/LightGBM, scipy, statsmodels).

• Significant experience in building and deploying forecasting and resource-constrained optimization models in production settings.

• Proven track record of applying Generative AI to real-world business challenges.

• Experience in developing Agentic Workflows and implementing RAG architectures.

• Solid foundation in statistics, encompassing hypothesis testing, experimental design, and causal inference.

• Practical experience with cloud platforms, particularly Microsoft Azure is preferred.

• Ability to merge model outcomes with a clear understanding of business needs to formulate actionable recommendations.
