
Lead Data Engineer – Healthcare Data, Audience Applications

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Define and uphold the architecture for healthcare data, including interface contracts, ADRs, schemas, and a staged delivery plan.
• Oversee the ingestion and transformation processes across Snowflake, Athena/S3, MySQL, and authorized healthcare repositories, ensuring no duplication of shared platform functionalities.
• Collaborate with Data Cloud on certifying sources, establishing partner-feed contracts, validating identities, owning raw zones, and ensuring data availability SLAs.
• Create healthcare base/vertical models and published/governed views, incorporating row/member-level controls, account scoping, masking, and backward-compatible versioning.
• Establish SLOs and criteria for operational readiness; ensure that dashboards, alerts, runbooks, rollback paths, and incident ownership are established prior to release.
• Lead design and code reviews, mentor the Senior Data Engineer, and manage dependencies within the pod.
• Provide support for compliance evidence, conduct annual audits, enforce US data-residency regulations, and facilitate stoplight decisions: Start, Stop, or Requires CERT.
• Implement privacy-by-design principles across all systems that manage PHI/PII.
• Collaborate with Product and Data teams to convert healthcare requirements into scalable architectures.
• Promote engineering best practices in testing, CI/CD, code quality, and operational excellence.
• 8–10 years of software engineering experience with progressively increasing technical responsibility.
• Proficient in SQL and experienced in Python and Java; familiarity with batch and streaming patterns, orchestration, testing, and schema evolution.
• Demonstrated success in building and scaling data-intensive or distributed systems.
• Experience in regulated environments is preferred, particularly in healthcare.
• Strong skills in system design and architecture.
• Capability to lead technically while remaining actively involved in implementation.
