This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Zealand.
• Design, develop, and sustain robust data pipelines, models, and reporting tools within our Snowflake-based platform, facilitating internal analytics, tenant-facing reports, data sharing, AI/NLQ applications, and usage-based billing.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Product, Finance, and Client Success teams to comprehend business and tenant requirements, ensuring accurate data ingestion, transformation, and exposure.
• Advocate for best engineering practices, including version control, CI/CD, automated testing, documentation, and infrastructure as code, alongside data quality checks, observability, and alerting to maintain the reliability of critical pipelines.
• Offer hands-on technical leadership on platform architecture, tools, governance, and cost management, directing code and design reviews while promoting enhancements to engineering standards.
• Manage complex initiatives from inception to completion, addressing problem definitions, prioritizing tasks, communicating trade-offs, and identifying risks proactively.
• Shape technical decisions by presenting clear alternatives and supporting evidence, enabling teams to access trusted data through comprehensive documentation and discoverability.
• Implement AI strategically to enhance engineering productivity, code quality, testing, documentation, and problem-solving.
• Extensive hands-on experience in data engineering roles, focusing on designing, constructing, and maintaining production-grade ETL/ELT pipelines, data models, and data products.
• Proficient SQL skills and practical experience with Snowflake or a comparable cloud data platform, including considerations for performance, security, and access control.
• Background in a SaaS, multi-tenant, or similarly complex and governed data environment, addressing secure data access, tenant isolation, data quality, and PII concerns.
• Practical knowledge of modern data engineering methodologies, including version control, automated testing, CI/CD, and repeatable code-based delivery.
