Lead Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland.

📋 Description

• Design, construct, and enhance scalable data pipelines that facilitate enterprise healthcare analytics and reporting applications.

• Spearhead automation initiatives across ingestion, transformation, orchestration, and operational monitoring processes.

• Create and sustain ingestion frameworks for both structured and semi-structured healthcare data sources.

• Develop and broaden semantic data layers within GCP and BigQuery to ensure reliable, consistent business reporting and analytics utilization.

• Design scalable ELT/ETL workflows using contemporary cloud-native architectural patterns.

• Collaborate closely with architects, analytics teams, and business stakeholders to convert data requirements into scalable technical solutions.

• Enhance BigQuery performance, partitioning, and cost management strategies.

• Apply engineering best practices for testing, observability, reliability, and deployment automation.

• Assist with data governance, data quality, and metadata management initiatives throughout the platform.

• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance across delivery teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience in data engineering or cloud data platform development.

• Extensive knowledge of Google Cloud Platform (GCP), specifically: BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Cloud Composer, Dataflow.

• Proven experience in designing and constructing scalable data ingestion and pipeline automation frameworks.

• Strong grasp of semantic layer development and dimensional modeling principles.

• Advanced skills in SQL and Python development.

• Experience with ETL/ELT pipeline design and orchestration.

• Familiarity with CI/CD, infrastructure automation, and best practices in cloud engineering.

• Solid understanding of data quality, observability, and principles of operational reliability.

• Experience with healthcare data ecosystems and regulated enterprise environments is preferred.

• Knowledge of healthcare data standards or payer/provider analytics platforms is a plus.

• Exposure to dbt, Looker, or semantic modeling frameworks is advantageous.
