Lead Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Lead the architectural strategy of our backend platform as we transition from our current state to future advancements.

• Drive the technical roadmap for our flagship project.

• Establish standards for team collaboration with AI, both in our development processes and as a product feature.

• Deliver production code, review pull requests, and provide mentorship to fellow engineers.

• Collaborate closely with product, mobile, and design teams to transform ambitious concepts into scalable solutions.

• Make informed decisions regarding what to retain, what to enhance, and what to reconstruct.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience as a senior or lead backend engineer, preferably with a focus on architectural decisions in a production setting.

• Strong proficiency in at least one modern backend language such as Ruby, Python, Elixir, or Go, along with the discernment to understand when language selection is critical.

• Well-defined views on API design, data modeling, and system evolution.

• Practical experience in integrating AI/LLM functionalities into actual products, or a strong, demonstrable interest in pursuing this area.

• Experience in leading or mentoring other engineering professionals.

• Comfortable with remote work across European time zones.

• Bonus: Experience with consumer-scale mobile backends, GraphQL, or Kotlin Multiplatform.
