Lead Backend Engineer, AI/RAG

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Lead the comprehensive design of an AI-powered financial services solution, encompassing architectural decisions through to production deployment.

• Convert financial domain requirements into scalable backend systems, ensuring adherence to compliance, data integrity, and auditability standards.

• Take ownership of technical delivery: define the solution architecture, choose suitable AI/LLM components, and guide build execution with a high level of autonomy.

• Collaborate with client stakeholders to verify solution design against real business outcomes and refine based on feedback.

• Conduct structured discovery sessions with clients to analyze current workflows, identify pain points, and uncover manual bottlenecks.

• Recognize viable AI automation opportunities — equally important, advise clients when AI is not the appropriate solution.

• Develop business cases for automation initiatives: time savings, error reduction, and cost implications.

• Prioritize a roadmap of opportunities based on feasibility, ROI, and client preparedness.

• Maintain client trust by establishing transparent expectations and consistently delivering on them.

⛳️ Requirements

• Senior-level experience in Python backend engineering (~6+ years of experience).

• Excellent communication skills, adept at engaging both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Experience in building or implementing RAG architectures.

• Proficiency in working with data lakes.

• Experience in structured, production environments.

• Fluent in English, at a native or near-native level.
