This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Implement a clearly defined automation roadmap and enhance it, pushing the boundaries of both what we automate and the methods we employ.
• Transform the development process by steering us towards CLI-driven and agentic models, moving away from manual, point-and-click configurations, while elevating the technical standards for the entire team.
• Create automations and AI agents across various domains including accounting, accounts payable, tax, and financial close processes—covering tasks such as inbox triage, invoice coding, reconciliations, flux analysis, accruals, and tax workflows.
• Assist in the deployment of our close-management tools (e.g., Ledge), ensuring seamless connections with NetSuite and data warehouses while enhancing reliability for trustworthy agentic closings.
• Configure and extend NetSuite, Zip, and the integration layer that connects our financial systems, making informed decisions about the placement of logic across ERP, integration layer, and code.
• Collaborate directly with accountants to comprehend their workflows, translating these into automation solutions and gaining their trust in the systems you implement.
• Make informed build-or-buy decisions and liaise with technology vendors, consistently evaluating what should be developed in-house versus what should be procured.
• Elevate the quality of work through design reviews, monitoring, and practical operational practices—especially concerning the reliability and auditability that financial systems necessitate.
• Inspire those around you by setting high standards in your work, coding, design reviews, and by contributing to the growth and recruitment of team members.
• A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles without necessarily being a career accountant—you grasp how a controllership functions (including accounting, accounts payable, tax, and the close) and can identify and eliminate inefficiencies.
• A mindset of constant improvement—manual and repetitive processes genuinely frustrate you, and you are proactive in automating your own tasks before assisting others.
• Quick and fearless in learning—able to adapt to new tools, systems, and challenges swiftly and effectively.
• Curiosity about automation and AI—staying informed about AI capabilities, having built or experimented with agents and automations, and holding strong opinions on their practical applications.
• A hands-on approach to building—you engage in system configuration, integration tools, scripting, and agent development, proactively learning aspects you haven’t been formally trained in.
• Assertive and ambitious—you bring a strong perspective to the table, advocate for improved solutions, and are not content with the current state of affairs.
• Comfortable working without a pre-defined playbook—capable of simultaneously defining approaches, architecture, and roadmaps.
• Ability to simplify complex technical and financial concepts, effectively communicating with accountants, engineers, and CFOs in a single day.
• Experience operating as a senior individual contributor—setting strategic direction, making decisions, and leading through influence rather than through team size.
• Preferred experience transitioning from finance, accounting, or consulting backgrounds into the actual development of automation solutions, rather than merely specifying them.
• Ideally, hands-on experience with some of the following: AI agents and LLM-based workflows in production, including necessary guardrails and monitoring; tools for accounting close and finance automation, along with their integrations.
• Equity stake.
• Discretionary annual bonus.
• Flexible work environment, enabling you to choose how many days per week to work in the office or to operate 100% remotely.
• Work-from-home stipend to enhance your home office setup.
• Unlimited paid time off (PTO).
• Eligibility for the SG discretionary annual bonus based on both individual and company performance.
• Up to 16 weeks of fully-paid family leave.
• 401(k) matching.
• Student loan matching program.
• Comprehensive health, vision, dental, and life insurance.
• Up to $25,000 towards family building, reproductive health services, and gender-affirming care.
• $500 annually for wellness-related expenses.
• Subscriptions to Headspace (for meditation), Headspace Care (for therapy), and One Medical.
• $360 each quarter to spend on tickets for live events.
• An annual subscription to Spotify, Apple Music, or Amazon Music.
