This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Conduct technical analysis concerning power electronics and power systems control for renewable energy generation, battery energy storage systems, large industrial drives, and FACTS.
• Provide customers with expertise in power systems engineering, including modeling, analysis, equipment design and specification, as well as failure mode analysis.
• Develop, modify, and parameterize simulation models for GE Vernova inverter-based resource (IBR) products, such as wind turbines, solar energy systems, and battery storage.
• Assess grid code compliance standards and their implications for renewable energy projects within bulk power systems.
• Aid in the development of transmission and distribution connected IBR and distributed energy resource (DER) products, adapting to changing codes and standards by engaging in industry standards groups and pioneering innovative methods in power system analysis.
• Execute power system transient studies and detailed equipment modeling utilizing appropriate software tools.
• Clearly convey findings to both internal and external stakeholders through comprehensive written reports and presentations that outline analyses conducted, solutions devised, and customer value propositions.
• Expand industry knowledge and present technical content at regional forums and conferences, serving as a thought leader in industry initiatives.
• Actively engage in a collaborative environment that prioritizes teamwork, quality, customer service, and innovation.
• Willingness to travel for project support, team interactions, and attendance at industry standard working group meetings and conferences (up to 10%).
• Ph.D. in electrical engineering, electric power engineering, or a related discipline is required—no industry experience necessary with this qualification OR a Master’s degree in electrical engineering or electric power engineering accompanied by 3 years of relevant experience.
• A minimum of three (3) years of experience conducting transient analysis using simulation tools such as PSCAD/EMTDC, EMTP, PSS/E, PowerFactory, or PSLF.
• A minimum of three (3) years of experience utilizing and applying common programming languages (e.g., Python, MATLAB, FORTRAN).
