This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Act as a data architect for Monzo’s Borrowing data, playing a crucial role in designing and scaling data models that evaluate the performance of our product offerings.
• Create robust data models downstream of backend services, primarily using BigQuery, to facilitate internal reporting, machine learning, large language models, as well as financial and regulatory applications.
• Serve as a vital contributor in shaping and upholding best practices for our Data Warehouse, covering aspects like source data payload design, logical data modeling, implementation, metadata, and testing standards.
• Collaboratively establish standards and engage with data across Monzo, promoting knowledge sharing and consistently enhancing data practices.
• Play a significant role in prioritizing data governance matters, ensuring a thorough approach to data integrity and compliance.
• Act as a pivotal technical leader capable of advocating for central platform initiatives aimed at raising the data standards across Borrowing and beyond.
• You possess a strong enthusiasm for data modeling, ETL projects, and Big Data.
• You take pleasure in working with data streams from diverse services, including financial, transactional, and operational systems.
• SQL and data modeling come naturally to you, and you are well-versed in general Data Warehousing concepts.
• You are dedicated to continuous improvement, actively seeking out opportunities and addressing challenges in your work and the work of others.
• You have experience in building robust and dependable data sets that require a high level of control.
• You thrive in cross-functional, fast-paced teams and are passionate about providing excellent service to our customers.
• You can think strategically about credit products and how our foundational data models can reveal deeper insights for our team while adding value for our customers.
• You are enthusiastic about empowering other data scientists, analytics engineers, and credit analysts by sharing your knowledge of data architecture.
• You have the capability to define large, complex data domains and secure the necessary buy-in from key leaders throughout the organization.
• You can shape and manage the technical roadmap of an entire domain and follow through on the deliverables outlined in the project plan.
• You lead through the contributions of others by effectively utilizing the multiplier effect to generate exponential value across Borrowing and Analytics Engineering.
• Excel in cross-functional stakeholder communication (back-end engineers, product managers, and credit analysts), while also effectively engaging with senior technical leaders.
