Lawyer, Global Licensing

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Hong Kong.

📋 Description

• Develop and implement a licensing strategy across the EU, Latin America, Africa, South Asia, and Hong Kong for services related to payments, e-money, remittances, and VASP/crypto.

• Prepare, analyze, and submit licensing applications while overseeing communications with regulatory bodies and government entities.

• Collaborate and liaise with external legal advisors, consultants, and regulatory agencies across various jurisdictions.

• Work in close partnership with Compliance, Risk, and Operations teams to ensure that regulatory frameworks are integrated into product and operational design.

• Monitor global regulatory trends, identify opportunities and risks, and provide management with insights on market entry requirements.

• Create and maintain internal policies, licensing documentation, and regulatory reports.

• Represent Coins.ph in regulatory discussions, industry associations, and working groups to foster positive licensing results.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) or higher.

• Over 5 years of post-qualification legal experience, with a minimum of 3 years in financial services, fintech, payments, or cryptocurrency sectors.

• Proven success in obtaining financial/payment licenses in one or more of the following areas: EU, Latin America, Africa, South Asia, or Hong Kong.

• Comprehensive knowledge of payment services regulations, AML/CFT, e-money licensing, and crypto/virtual asset regulatory frameworks.

• Strong negotiation and stakeholder management abilities with regulators and external counsel.

• Exceptional communication and legal drafting skills in English; proficiency in additional languages (such as Chinese) is advantageous.

• Capable of working across different time zones and managing multiple licensing projects concurrently.
