K-8 Science Education Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Overseeing the design, development, and curation of science-related activities, lessons, datasets, and various instructional resources that align with Next Generation Science Standards, while considering effective learning strategies and best practices to accommodate diverse abilities and backgrounds.

• Collaborating closely with content, production, and assessment specialists within our team to develop high-quality, meaningful, inquiry-based tasks, activities, lessons, and projects that adhere to NGSS guidelines.

• Creating or sourcing open-source teaching resources and modifying them for use by participating teachers, spanning grades 2 through 8.

• Actively engaging with our community of science educators to effectively integrate Tuva and NGSS-aligned materials into their teaching practices.

• Initiating and nurturing partnerships with academic institutions, research organizations, museums, and other science education and community groups to assist educators in teaching and students in learning foundational data literacy concepts and skills utilizing Tuva.

⛳️ Requirements

• Possess a BS, MS, PhD, or Ed.M in Science Education or a graduate degree in a scientific discipline with equivalent educational training experience.

• Have a solid background in Life Science, Physical Science, or Earth Science content.

• Be well-versed in the Next Generation Science Standards and research-informed best teaching practices.

• Bring 3-5 years of successful classroom experience in teaching science and/or mathematics at the elementary or middle school level.

• Exhibit the ability to design cross-disciplinary curriculum or instructional activities that weave together concepts and skills from various subject areas and topics.

• Hold a strong understanding and knowledge of foundational statistics and data analysis skills and concepts.

• Communicate effectively and clearly with team members, customers, and partners throughout the Tuva ecosystem.

• Demonstrate a passion for online learning and empowering educators to foster impactful and memorable learning experiences for their students.
