This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama.

📋 Description

• Counsel students and families regarding academic matters, career planning, and graduation requirements;

• Stay updated on all high school graduation criteria, including special obligations like community service, and relay this information to the High School Coordinator and principal;

• Assist students and parents with the process of selecting secondary school courses in accordance with specific state credit and graduation necessities, as well as student interests and aspirations.

• A key aspect of this process is aiding students and parents in creating a Four Year Plan to fulfill graduation requirements;

• Advise students on matters related to course drops and schedule changes, seeking necessary support while ensuring adherence to the school's course selection and drop policies;

• Review student transcripts and ensure the accurate entry of credits into the online transcript system;

• Follow established procedures to guarantee that Connections Academy transcripts are precise and current;

• Collaborate with administrative assistants to secure school records from prior institutions (when applicable) and appropriately forward student records;

• Implement programs designed for students and families addressing interpersonal adjustment challenges;

• Work with school teams to identify and assist families in accessing school and community resources;

• Contribute to the creation of crisis prevention and management plans for the school, serving as a vital member of the Student Support Team (SST);

• Coordinate a team of middle and high school educators to identify students who are "at risk" or "in crisis"; act as the primary contact for these students and their families, maintaining regular communication;

• Oversee and maintain the Personal Learning Plan (PLP) for each student;

• Undertake efforts to ensure that records for Connections Academy students are complete and accurate;

• Support families throughout the school withdrawal process, assisting in data collection regarding withdrawals;

• Report and refer critical incidents that threaten student well-being as mandated by law, administrative regulations, or ethical standards.

• Remain informed about all state regulations pertaining to incident reporting and documentation;

• Assist teachers when students enroll mid-semester, ensuring guidance is provided for integrating these students into their coursework, and that previous grades, credits, and evaluations are managed properly;

• Communicate with the Curriculum Team to confirm that curriculum offerings comply with state standards;

• Implement special programs such as Advanced Placement support, SAT and ACT preparation, and college entrance guidance;

• Understand the requirements and assist the principal in managing all high school testing, including exit exams, PSAT, SAT, ACT, and AP exams;

• Aid students in researching and comprehending their post-secondary career and educational opportunities;

• Assist students with the preparation of applications for colleges and jobs;

• Educate students and parents on college admissions prerequisites and financial aid;

• Support professional development initiatives for teachers and school staff;

• Take on teaching and grading responsibilities as needed, which may include teaching middle school elective courses;

• Organize high school graduation ceremonies;

• Other duties as assigned.


⛳️ Requirements

• Must be a resident of Alabama

• Valid Alabama certification in School Counseling

• Strong proficiency in technology, particularly with Microsoft Office applications

• Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written

• Customer-oriented approach

• Outstanding attention to detail and organizational abilities

• High level of adaptability

• Team-oriented individual with proven leadership capabilities

• Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment

• Willingness to occasionally travel for marketing and state testing events (which may include overnight travel)
