Junior Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Design and maintain applications utilizing Scala.

• Employ functional programming principles in live production environments.

• Create solutions for asynchronous and concurrent processing.

• Connect with external services and APIs.

• Utilize AWS SDKs, including services like S3 and STS.

• Implement JSON serialization and deserialization with contemporary libraries such as Circe.

• Conceptualize, construct, and manage solutions on AWS and/or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

• Create data processing workflows utilizing BigQuery and Dataflow.

• Handle and query data using SQL and PostgreSQL.

• Collaborate with distributed messaging systems, including Google Pub/Sub.

• Develop and uphold unit, integration, and component tests.

• Engage in code reviews and collaborative development methodologies.

• Employ Git and adhere to modern version control practices.

• Diagnose and resolve issues within distributed cloud environments.

• Ensure system stability, reliability, and performance.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient in English and willing to travel to São Carlos/SP as required.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.

• Early-career professionals with robust technical skills are encouraged to apply.

• Experience in Scala development.

• Strong grasp of functional programming principles.

• Familiarity with JSON serialization/deserialization (e.g., Circe).

• Experience with cloud platforms, specifically AWS and/or GCP.

• Understanding of IAM, STS, authentication, and authorization processes.

• Experience with BigQuery and Dataflow.

• Knowledge of SQL and PostgreSQL.

• Excellent debugging and problem-solving abilities.

• Proven experience in developing, testing, and validating software solutions.

• Capable of writing clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.

• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

• Nice to have: Experience with asynchronous and concurrent programming (e.g., FS2, Cats Effect).

• Familiarity with distributed messaging platforms like Google Pub/Sub.

• Background in troubleshooting cloud-based distributed systems.

• Proficient with Git and collaborative development workflows.
