This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Greece.
• Investigate and prepare datasets by cleaning, performing feature engineering, and conducting exploratory analysis on both structured and unstructured data (text, image, tabular).
• Train and assess machine learning models under the mentorship of senior scientists, gaining insights on transitioning from a functional prototype to a production-ready system.
• Develop and uphold Python code that operates in production, including scripts, pipeline components, and data processing tasks, with assistance through code reviews.
• Assist in constructing and testing elements of LLM-powered systems: prompt templates, evaluation scripts, data loaders, and retrieval pipelines.
• Conduct experiments in a systematic manner: track hypotheses, document results, and effectively share findings with the team.
• Familiarize yourself with software engineering best practices — Git workflows, testing, documentation, and CI/CD — as part of your routine work.
• A degree in a quantitative discipline (computer science, mathematics, statistics, physics, engineering, or a related field) or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Strong grasp of machine learning principles: supervised vs. unsupervised learning, overfitting, evaluation metrics, and fundamental model selection.
• Proficient in Python — capable of writing functions, utilizing libraries, debugging errors, and interpreting others' code.
• Familiarity with essential data science libraries (pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn).
• Experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow is an advantage.
• Some hands-on experience with machine learning projects — academic projects, personal initiatives, internships, or competition entries are all relevant.
• A sense of curiosity and initiative — you read research papers, stay updated on releases, experiment with new tools, and ask insightful questions.
• Strong communication skills — you can articulate what you did, why it matters, and what insights you gained from the experience.
