This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.
• Create promotional and educational materials related to healthcare, including fact sheets, flyers, toolkits, and campaign content for both internal and external audiences.
• Collaborate with clinical and subject matter experts to draft audience-focused messaging that ensures accuracy, cultural sensitivity, and compliance with plain-language and health literacy standards.
• Develop digital assets such as graphics, infographics, and data visualizations for program reports, dashboards, presentations, and stakeholder communications.
• Establish and oversee a production schedule for all communications materials; monitor timelines for deliverables and coordinate internal reviews in alignment with the content calendar.
• Ensure that all materials comply with federal agency branding guidelines and Section 508 accessibility standards; produce final deliverable files in both editable and PDF formats.
• Assist in the creation and upkeep of a Strategic Communications and Engagement Plan along with a Content Calendar across various program workstreams.
• Facilitate communication across program offices to maintain consistent messaging regarding objectives, progress, and results.
• Help prepare executive briefing packages and monthly leadership progress reports for senior government stakeholders.
• Maintain version control over communication artifacts, branding asset libraries, and compliance documentation in line with federal information security and data management requirements.
• Treat sensitive program information with discretion, adhering to relevant federal agency data governance standards.
• A Bachelor’s degree (completed or in progress) in Communications, Public Health, Marketing, Graphic Design, English, or a closely related discipline.
• U.S. citizenship and the ability to manage sensitive government information in accordance with applicable federal regulations.
• Proven ability to write clearly and professionally for diverse audiences while paying attention to health literacy and plain-language guidelines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and comfort with collaborative platforms such as Microsoft Teams and SharePoint.
• Strong organizational skills with the capacity to manage multiple deadlines and deliverables simultaneously.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a hybrid remote team across various stakeholder groups.
• Preferred:
• Previous experience or coursework in public health communications, health literacy, or outreach focused on federal/military contexts.
• Knowledge of Section 508 accessibility standards and federal communications or branding requirements.
• Experience with graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva for Enterprise) or data visualization tools.
• Background in producing digital assets, infographics, or visual communications for healthcare, nonprofit, or government clients.
• Familiarity with content calendars, editorial workflows, or communications production schedules.
• Experience supporting or working within a federal health agency or VA/DoD environment.
• Understanding of health promotion, awareness campaign development, or trauma-informed messaging principles.
