This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Execute comprehensive bookkeeping tasks and uphold precise general ledger and chart-of-account records for designated clients.
• Manage and sustain accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, encompassing invoices, receipts, vendor bills, payments, and credits.
• Conduct payroll accounting, which includes payroll activities, employer taxes, deductions, liabilities, and clearing accounts.
• Finalize monthly reconciliations for bank, credit card, and balance sheet accounts.
• Prepare standard and adjusting journal entries while reviewing ledgers for any discrepancies.
• Complete month-end closing procedures and either prepare or review financial statements along with supporting schedules.
• Maintain necessary supporting documentation and audit trails.
• Liaise with clients concerning missing information, inquiries, reconciliations, and deadlines.
• Investigate and resolve standard accounting discrepancies, escalating complex issues for senior review as needed.
• Adhere to established government-contracting accounting protocols and identify matters that require escalation.
• At least five (5) years of professional bookkeeping or accounting experience.
• A minimum of three (3) years of practical experience with QuickBooks Online.
• A minimum of three (3) years of experience with QuickBooks Desktop.
• Proficient in full-cycle bookkeeping, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting, general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end closing.
• Experience in supporting multiple clients or business entities concurrently.
• Solid understanding of debits and credits, accruals, prepaid expenses, payroll liabilities, loans, fixed assets, and adjusting entries.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the use of formulas, sorting/filtering, lookup functions, and reconciliation schedules.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, communication, confidentiality, and time-management abilities.
• Capability to work independently, manage recurring deadlines, investigate discrepancies, and produce accurate records with minimal supervision.
• Strong preference for candidates with government-contracting experience; familiarity with direct and indirect cost classification, job or contract cost tracking, labor and payroll allocation, timekeeping reconciliation, contract billing support, unallowable-cost segregation, and DCAA-ready accounting environments is highly desirable.
• An associate or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
• QuickBooks ProAdvisor certification is preferred.
• Previous experience in an accounting, bookkeeping, CPA, outsourced accounting, or professional-services firm.
• Experience with ADP or other payroll platforms is a plus.
• Familiarity with job costing, class/project tracking, indirect-cost structures, and government-contracting accounting is advantageous.
