Journalism Team Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Play a key role in ONC’s mission to deliver impartial news, insights, and policy solutions by overseeing a team of editorial interns.

• Assign tasks to interns within the department, allocating responsibilities according to their individual strengths and areas of expertise.

• Offer guidance and support to interns, ensuring they have access to the necessary resources and assistance to succeed in their roles.

• Actively mentor interns, promoting their professional growth and aiding them in managing their responsibilities within the department.

• May collaborate with others to produce and/or supervise professional and engaging content.

⛳️ Requirements

• Currently pursuing a degree in Journalism, Script Writing, Creative Writing, Media Studies, English/Literature, or related disciplines.

• Strong public speaking abilities and a knack for “thinking outside the box” are essential.

• Must be a responsive, consistent, and effective communicator, even in challenging situations.

• A proactive self-starter who is eager to take initiative and complete assigned tasks.

• Capable of working remotely and managing their own schedule to meet deadlines.

• Familiarity with Google Workspace is preferred.

• Ability to lead weekly Editorial meetings.

• Must be legally authorized to intern in the U.S.
