This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Serves as the ranking site manager under the guidance of the Publisher.
• Aids in the selection and oversight of site contributors.
• Helps in distributing assignments that align with the target demographic of the site.
• Collaborates with contributors to create AP Style articles from initial ideas to finalized content.
• Reviews and approves submitted content.
• Verifies all citations and assesses all referenced materials.
• Adheres to deadlines and production standards.
• Assists in generating and distributing all staff-related communications.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with mastery of AP Style writing format.
• Proven ability to exercise sound judgment and make effective decisions.
• In-depth knowledge and understanding of various international social and political contexts.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret global social and political events from diverse viewpoints.
• Capability to supervise the creation of intentional social and political news features that cover international subjects, presenting multifaceted perspectives on complex issues.
• Outstanding time management skills with a history of meeting tight deadlines.
• Advanced knowledge of communication and mass media principles and practices.
• Proficient in learning and adapting to new online content media platforms.
• Previous experience in editorial or content management, or proven success in independently managing a relevant site.
• Ability to effectively lead and manage a team of seven reporters.
• Internship can be utilized for class credit.
• All-volunteer staff.
