JCL Mainframe Migration Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Evaluate Control-M and/or Atomic scheduling on the mainframe.

• Conduct maintenance, troubleshooting, and investigation of JCL jobs on the mainframe, including spool and SMF analysis.

• Examine the CICS environment for loaded programs and their configurations.

• Collaborate with ISPF, GDG, PSD, and MFT for migration analysis.

• Assist in converting mainframe batch jobs (JCL) to PowerShell scripts for Azure.

• Aid in the configuration and automation of nightly, weekly, and monthly batch jobs in Azure.

• Enhance batch job performance through concurrency, multi-threading, and thread safety optimizations.

• Identify and document business requirements for batch jobs.

• Work alongside business stakeholders to clarify technical and operational expectations.

• Develop and maintain PowerShell modules, ensuring code signing and adherence to security practices.

• Participate in daily standups, sprint planning, and troubleshooting sessions.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient in Mainframe JCL.

• Highly skilled in Mainframe Job scheduling, particularly with Control-M.

• Expertise in Mainframe CICS, with a strong understanding of CA Ideal.

• Significant experience in PowerShell scripting and automation within Azure.

• In-depth knowledge of mainframe batch job concepts (JCL, GDG, PDS).

• Familiarity with C#/.NET, SQL Server, and Azure Storage.

• Understanding of thread safety, locking mechanisms, and concurrency in scripting.

• Experience with migration projects (preferably from mainframe to cloud).

• Ability to interpret and translate JCL scripts into PowerShell.

• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

• Experience with Agile methodologies and working within cross-functional teams.

• Background in operationalizing batch jobs.
