Java Developer, Spark

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland.

📋 Description

• Develop, code, and manage applications and data processing solutions utilizing Java, Kotlin, Scala, and Apache Spark.

• Create and implement data loading and transformation processes for extensive datasets.

• Handle data in various formats and compression methods.

• Employ Spark SQL, DataFrames, and Datasets to facilitate efficient data manipulation and queries within Spark applications.

• Enhance Spark applications by optimizing configurations, managing memory, and fine-tuning data serialization and task partitioning.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of professional software engineering experience, emphasizing JVM-based development and large-scale data processing solutions.

• Practical experience in developing applications with Java and Kotlin, with a strong grasp of object-oriented and functional programming principles.

• Working knowledge of Scala, including familiarity with commonly used Scala libraries, frameworks, and development methodologies.

• Extensive experience in designing, developing, and maintaining data pipelines and processing jobs based on Apache Spark.

• Proficient in Spark SQL, DataFrames, distributed data processing, and performance enhancement for high-volume data workloads.

• Strong understanding of big data engineering concepts, distributed computing paradigms, and scalable application design.

• Excellent SQL skills and experience with relational database systems.

• Experience in building or supporting cloud-based data solutions within AWS environments.

• Familiarity with version control and collaborative development practices using Git or similar tools.
