Java Developer – Gamedev

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants anywhere in the world.

📋 Description

• Full responsibility for the development and execution of intricate game features (including meta-game, economy, and social mechanics).

• Optimize and sustain high-performance server-side logic within the SFS2X and Hazelcast frameworks.

• Design robust Protobuf-based APIs and manage complex state synchronization across distributed services.

• Advanced experience with PostgreSQL for overseeing persistent game data and user profiles.

• Collaborate closely with game designers to convert gameplay concepts into scalable technical solutions.

• Write clean, maintainable code and engage in thorough peer review processes.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 4 years of experience in Java development (Java 17 or higher preferred).

• Extensive knowledge of caching platforms such as Redis or Hazelcast for distributed data structures and processing.

• In-depth understanding of multithreading, concurrency models, and memory management.

• Familiarity with Java Loom/Coroutine is a plus.

• Experience in building CQRS or event-driven systems using Protobuf and gRPC for efficient inter-service communication.

• Strong expertise in PostgreSQL (including optimization and schema design).

• Experience in developing ETL pipelines for game analytics or state synchronization.

• Experience with SmartFoxServer 2X (SFS2X) extension development and its API is advantageous.

• Familiarity with GitLab CI/CD and automated build processes is a plus.

• Understanding of AB-testing mechanics and feature-flagging in a production setting is beneficial.

• Experience with Game Economy systems (including rewards and handling hard/soft currency) is advantageous.
