Japanese Language Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Japan.

📋 Description

• Supervise the Japanese localized content and updates for WGSN's website.

• Work in collaboration with the Marketing, Design, and Product teams to adapt assets for digital publication on WGSN product sites.

• Partner closely with the Tech team to implement machine translation systems that enhance the localization workflow.

• Oversee the management of translated Japanese content across various sectors and brand-related marketing materials.

• Collaborate with internal Product and Tech teams to support the development of machine learning initiatives.

• Manage linguistic resources, including 6 glossaries and 2 style guides.

• Evaluate content quality and make necessary adjustments to enhance the in-house machine translation system.

• Provide guidance to freelancers and part-time staff through instructions and constructive feedback.

• Regularly report on project progress to localization managers and facilitate communication with the Japanese commercial team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must be a native Japanese speaker with a strong command of both Japanese and English, particularly in research, reading, and writing – adept at transcreation and localization editing from English to Japanese.

• Previous experience with machine translation APIs such as DeepL, Google, Amazon, and Bing, as well as post-editing.

• Ability to prioritize and organize tasks under tight deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.

• Comfortable with flexible working hours and collaborating virtually with teams and freelancers across different regions and time zones.

• A self-starter and proactive communicator with a passion for sharing knowledge and connecting with people and ideas.

• Technical skills: Proficiency in using Apple computers and Google tools, with a basic understanding of data analytics being preferred.
