IT Security Architect

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Evaluate and design security frameworks for intricate IT infrastructures, considering ISO 27001, BSI IT-Grundschutz, and other pertinent standards and guidelines.

• Perform risk assessments and derive specific, technically feasible security requirements.

• Create and autonomously implement preventive protection strategies at the architecture and design level (cloud, on-premises, Kubernetes).

• Incorporate security requirements into existing systems, architectures, and CI/CD pipelines (DevSecOps).

• Provide guidance to clients—particularly in the public sector—regarding regulatory obligations in the context of contemporary IT and cloud infrastructures (e.g., DORA, NIS2, KRITIS).

• Establish and enhance information security and emergency management systems.

• Empower development and operations teams to independently implement security requirements.

• Produce and maintain security documentation while conducting training and awareness initiatives.

⛳️ Requirements

• A degree in a STEM field or an equivalent qualification.

• Substantial, hands-on experience in cyber or IT security with an emphasis on technical implementation.

• Profound understanding of security standards and their practical application (ISO 27001, BSI IT-Grundschutz).

• Knowledge of EU regulations (NIS2, DORA, Cyber Resilience Act, BAIT/VAIT, KRITIS) and the capability to translate them into technical measures.

• Experience in designing, evaluating, and executing security architectures—ideally in diverse environments (cloud, on-premises, OT/IT).

• Familiarity with cloud infrastructures and major hyperscalers (AWS, Azure, GCP).

• Practical experience with DevSecOps principles and the integration of security into CI/CD pipelines and agile development processes.

• Readiness to travel within Germany (averaging up to 3 days per month).

• Willingness to undergo security screening (SÜ1 or SÜ2) as per the Security Clearance Act (SÜG).

• Excellent proficiency in German and English.
