This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +3 more states.
• Responsible for teaching synchronous online courses using Microsoft Teams.
• Must be available to teach during evenings and weekends, as dictated by the course schedule.
• Plan and organize instruction to enhance student learning and engagement.
• Ensure instructional strategies align with CIAT’s adult learner framework, focusing on certification readiness.
• Adapt instructional methods and strategies as needed to accommodate diverse student needs.
• Utilize effective teaching and learning strategies to convey subject matter to students in a synchronous online format (Microsoft Teams).
• Maintain current certifications in the subjects being taught.
• Actively uphold certifications in the subject areas taught through renewal processes.
• Exhibit comprehensive and accurate knowledge within their field of expertise.
• Relate subject matter to interconnected fields.
• Stay updated in their subject area through professional development, active participation in professional organizations, and attendance at meetings, conferences, or workshops.
• Curriculum Development: Create, revise, and align course materials to meet college standards for adult learners.
• Select instructional resources that are in line with course objectives.
• Keep course content current and relevant.
• Review course materials for accuracy and relevance, providing suggestions for enhancements.
• Ensure adherence to accreditation standards for quality in instruction and education.
• Comply with College Policies and Procedures: Maintain the Student Database, ensuring it is updated and accurate regarding student attendance and grading records.
• Ensure compliance with accreditation standards associated with instruction and educational quality, scheduled class hours, and CIAT policies and procedures.
• Foster collaboration with colleagues and engage in the implementation of new initiatives and ideas.
• Follow the CIAT business casual dress code as detailed in the CIAT Employee Handbook. Attire should be clean, neat, and free of rips or holes. Polo shirts are acceptable.
• Maintain FERPA compliance while securely managing student data in accordance with institutional policies.
• Valid certification in CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, or CompTIA Security+ is required.
• At least one year of experience in a training environment, preferably delivering IT certification bootcamps.
• Preferably possess advanced subject matter expertise.
• Experience with synchronous online teaching is preferred.
• Prior involvement in curriculum development and instructional design for IT certification bootcamps is advantageous.
• Familiarity with CertMaster, TestOut, or similar training tools is preferred.
• Strong presentation skills are essential.
• Must demonstrate a high degree of flexibility, creativity, and reliability.
• Proficient in MS Office applications, including Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Capable of solving problems quickly and efficiently, within required timeframes.
• Work with a sense of urgency while actively engaging and listening to colleagues from various departments.
• Ability to collaborate with peers, academic departments, and administration to foster student success, meet institutional goals, and contribute to a positive, inclusive culture.
• Commitment to promoting an inclusive and supportive learning atmosphere that honors the diversity of students' backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives.
• Awareness of current trends, best practices, and teaching methodologies in higher education.
• Proven ability to deliver engaging and effective lesson plans that address the diverse needs of students.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively share information and interact with students, colleagues, and others.
