This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Mexico.
• Responsible for coding all inpatient and/or outpatient hospital records, including Emergency Department records, Home Health & Hospice records, and/or professional fee services.
• Ensure compliance with Hospital and Departmental Policies and Procedures.
• Exhibit proficiency in coding various service areas and/or specialties or possess extensive experience in a specific specialty.
• Review the complete current medical record of patients, assigning the appropriate codes such as CPT, ICD, and MS-DRG.
• Utilize multiple computer systems to research the medical record and code efficiently.
• Manage accounts receivable by identifying any lost documents.
• Keep current with technical knowledge of legal and regulatory information relevant to the business area.
• Accountable for resolving any pre-bill edits, denials, etc. for the assigned accounts.
• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Must possess one of the following coding certifications at the time of hire: CCS, CCS-P, CPC-H, or RHIT/RHIA, with the expectation of obtaining one of the coding credentials listed within one year of hiring.
• A minimum of three to five years of experience as a coder is required.
