• Timely response to interpreting sessions, conducting interpretation in a courteous and professional manner.
• Accurately convey concepts and meanings in accordance with established interpretation protocols, ensuring no omissions or additions.
• Communicate clearly in both languages, employing appropriate pronunciation, enunciation, and polite expressions.
• Uphold a professional demeanor throughout all interpreting sessions.
• Maintain composure during interpreting sessions, especially when one of the primary speakers may be incoherent or distressed, particularly in emergency situations such as 911 calls.
• Ensure punctuality and availability during work hours.
• Adhere to client instructions in compliance with protocols to meet client expectations with Limited English-speaking Persons (LEP), refraining from interaction with the LEP without client permission.
• Familiarity with protocols and terminology across various industries, including but not limited to Medical, Insurance, Finance, and Law.
• Show dedication to cultural sensitivity and thrive in a diverse work environment.
• Proficiency in Zyphe and English, along with an understanding of the associated cultural dynamics.
• Capability to provide cultural competence and evaluate regional and accent variations to enhance communication with the LEP.
• Exceptional listening, retention, and note-taking abilities to ensure a high degree of accuracy during interpretation.
• Capacity to concentrate, remain detached from the conversation, and maintain neutrality and objectivity, particularly in discussions involving sensitive topics such as end-of-life issues, pregnancy termination, vaccinations, and matters related to sexual orientation and/or gender identity.
• Educational background or professional experience in language-related fields such as teaching, language assessment, translation, or interpretation is preferred.
• Must be adaptable to any LLS technology advancements aimed at improving service delivery and meeting client needs.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States.
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Candidates currently employed by a client of LanguageLine Solutions or an affiliated LanguageLine Solutions entity may not be eligible for consideration.
• Ability to read and write in the requested languages is highly preferred.
