Internal Audit Analyst

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Conduct comprehensive financial crime compliance audits from start to finish, which include defining the scope, conducting risk and control assessments, performing walkthroughs, testing controls, and preparing workpapers and reports that are clear, thorough, and actionable.

• Manage audit logistics and engage with stakeholders in a remote setting, monitoring requests, outstanding items, and testing progress while ensuring proactive communication with cross-functional teams.

• Detect control deficiencies during fieldwork by carrying out root cause analysis, assessing exception severity based on likelihood, impact, and regulatory exposure, and escalating issues when further stakeholder engagement is necessary.

• Formulate risk-based recommendations in partnership with stakeholders, document management responses and action plans, and confirm the resolution of previous audit findings until completion.

• Stay updated on anti-money laundering and sanctions regulations in all jurisdictions where Coinbase operates, incorporating regulatory changes into audit planning and testing.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in audit, compliance testing, risk management, or similar control-oriented positions within the financial services sector.

• Demonstrated expertise in assessing control exceptions and categorizing findings by severity based on likelihood, impact, regulatory exposure, and frequency.

• Proven capacity to convert identified exceptions into clear and appropriate conclusions and recommendations that reflect the level of risk involved.

• Familiarity with data analysis methods (SQL preferred) for conducting tests on large datasets.

• Established ability to independently oversee multiple audit workstreams and stakeholder interactions in a fully remote, asynchronous environment.

• Utilizes generative AI in a responsible manner, ensuring human oversight to produce business-ready outputs and enhance workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.
