This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Support the preparation, examination, and analysis of financial statements.
• Generate reports and analyze variances in the Income Statement and Balance Sheet accounts.
• Create journal entries for various business segments, including Intercompany and Foreign Currency Exchange, along with preparing related account reconciliations.
• Manage the financial statement closing process, ensuring the distribution and reconciliation of all financial reports and coordinating the dissemination of various financial statement packages to both the management team and the US.
• Oversee intercompany transactions, collaborating with Best Buy International to maintain intercompany balance, settlements, royalty calculations, specific P&L line responsibilities, and allocations across locations and departments.
• Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Oracle GL module by overseeing access requests, identifying and reporting access conflicts to management to ensure appropriate segregation of duties and compliance with Best Buy policies.
• Ensure adherence to SOX controls related to the financial statement closing process.
• A minimum of 2 years of full cycle accounting experience in a mid to large-sized organization.
• At least 2 years of experience with controls, conducting routine reconciliations, and performing P&L variance analysis.
• Proficiency in MS Excel and Access at an intermediate level.
• Basic knowledge of SQL.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance and currently enrolled in the second year of the CPA program.
