This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.
• Lead the design process and contribute to programming initiatives, space planning, and interior layouts, encompassing furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E), lighting design, and selection of materials and colors.
• Create and refine comprehensive design concepts that align with client objectives, project vision, and the standards of the firm.
• Investigate design requirements, trends, materials, and new innovations within the industry.
• Develop programming documentation, space plans, and area calculations to assess project requirements.
• Create presentation materials such as renderings, mood boards, and design packages intended for clients.
• Present design concepts to clients and engage in project interviews and presentations.
• Work collaboratively with project teams to ensure the integration of interior design with architectural and engineering systems.
• Choose, specify, and coordinate furniture selections while overseeing their installation.
• Handle multiple priorities, deadlines, and deliverables in a dynamic environment.
• Produce detailed construction documents, including plans, elevations, and specifications.
• Prepare redline revisions and update drawing sets as needed.
• Collaborate with consultants, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and life safety teams.
• Carry out construction administration responsibilities, including site visits and coordination with contractors.
• Review and respond to shop drawings and submittals.
• Utilize knowledge of interior design standards, specifications, and BOMA calculations.
• Ensure accuracy and quality control throughout all technical documentation.
• Mentor and guide junior staff in design development and technical execution.
• Coordinate interdisciplinary project teams and consultant activities.
• Manage work within the established budgets and schedules of projects.
• Build and sustain strong client relationships throughout the duration of the project.
• Bachelor’s degree in interior design, architecture, or a related field.
• 5–6 years of experience in commercial interior design (including workplace, federal, healthcare, or similar project types).
• Strong grasp of space planning, building systems, and construction documentation.
• Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite.
• Experience in coordinating with multidisciplinary teams (architectural and engineering).
• NCIDQ certification preferred or currently in progress.
• LEED AP or WELL accreditation is an advantage.
