This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Assist in the implementation of Upwardly Global’s current integrated communications and marketing strategy.
• Ensure the timely production of content while maintaining consistency in organizational messaging, voice, and brand identity.
• Review and refine all content produced.
• Execute the established strategy for thought leadership and narrative development related to immigrant workforce inclusion, economic mobility, workforce development, and the future of work.
• Provide guidance to senior leadership on communications strategy, positioning, and reputational matters.
• Work in collaboration with the development team and executive leadership to plan, promote, and execute Upwardly Global’s four-city “CEO Tour.”
• Oversee all deliverables for projects managed by the Marketing & Communications team, including event collateral, written communications, and hiring external vendors like photographers.
• Manage relationships with external PR and executive communications partners.
• Ensure the execution of the media relations strategy.
• Review and edit public relations materials, including talking points, op-eds, speeches, media statements, and external messaging.
• Ensure timely responses to interview opportunities and media inquiries; assist in identifying and preparing staff and alumni for interviews as necessary.
• Collaborate with the Director of Digital Marketing on the content strategy across web, email, social media, blog, and marketing collateral.
• Ensure communication efforts are audience-focused, data-driven, and aligned with organizational goals.
• Manage and support members of the Marketing & Communications team, including external consultants and vendors as necessary.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for PR partners.
• Assist the Director of Digital Marketing in managing relationships with paid advertising and digital content partners.
• Support the Project Manager in overseeing the relationship with the web partner.
• Ensure appropriate delegation of tasks within the team and conduct daily progress check-ins.
• Aid the team in planning the content calendar, taking a leadership role in weekly brainstorming sessions and monthly planning calls.
• Lead weekly meetings for the Marketing & Communications team.
• Supervise four direct reports on the Marketing & Communications team.
• Collaborate closely with Development, Programs, Partnerships, Product, and Executive teams.
• Maintain communications workflows, approvals, and editorial planning processes.
• 8–12 years of experience in marketing and communications, including leadership roles at the Director or Senior Director level; experience at the VP level is a plus but not mandatory.
• Proven experience working within an established communications function, emphasizing continuity, execution, and support of existing strategies.
• Demonstrated ability to integrate into an existing strategy and ensure consistent execution in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong background in partnering with senior leadership on communications strategy, messaging, and positioning.
• Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling abilities, with experience in reviewing and shaping executive communications (op-eds, speeches, and media materials).
• Strong organizational and project management capabilities, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and stakeholders concurrently.
• Experience in managing and supporting teams, including direct reports, consultants, and external vendors.
• Familiarity with digital marketing channels (web, email, social) and data-driven communication strategies.
• Ability to assume an interim leadership role with minimal onboarding and quickly establish trust across teams.
• Experience working cross-functionally with departments such as development, programs, and executive leadership.
