Insurance Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Verifying patient insurance benefits and eligibility.

• Requesting and loading pre-certification approvals for consultations and follow-up visits.

• Recording and indexing all benefit and certification details into the EMR.

• Coordinating coverage restrictions and collaborating with other departments to resolve payment issues.

• Ensuring that every customer receives the highest level of service.

• Auditing schedules to confirm that all patients have been verified and are active.

• Documenting and addressing any coverage restrictions to prevent payment complications.

• Prioritizing workload to ensure that deadlines are consistently met.

• Obtaining referrals or authorizations from primary care offices or insurance companies.

• Serving as a reference source for team members and assisting in the resolution of insurance issues.

• Indexing incoming records and referrals.

• Completing any additional job responsibilities as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent experience is required.

• Certificate from a College or Technical School is preferred.

• 2 to 3 years of experience in the medical or a related field is required.

• Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures is essential.

• Familiarity with health insurance industry practices and/or medical billing procedures is necessary.

• Proficiency in computer skills is required.

• Experience with medical scheduling and billing systems is preferred.
