
Insurance Defense Trial Attorney

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Acts on behalf of clients across all facets of insurance defense practice, managing cases that are generally of low to moderate complexity and risk.
• Oversees all stages of cases, from initial intake through to resolution.
• Engages in litigation of cases with low to moderate complexity and exposure, performing necessary tasks from intake to trial and/or settlement.
• Prepares legal documents, including pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and briefs.
• Participates in hearings, conferences, interviews, mediations, arbitrations, and/or trials.
• Actively updates leadership on opportunities and challenges in case management.
• Collaborates with the Claims Department regarding legal file aspects and jurisdictional matters.
• Undertakes additional tasks or responsibilities to ensure effective case management.
• May serve as second chair during trials and manage trials involving moderate complexity and/or exposure.
• Offers assistance to senior attorneys in more complex cases and receives developmental assignments involving high complexity and/or exposure.
• Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
• Must be licensed to practice law in relevant states by the time of hire.
• A minimum of three years of experience in insurance defense litigation and/or personal/bodily injury is preferred.
• Experience as a second chair in trials is strongly preferred.
• Multistate jurisdictional practice experience is preferred.
• Capable of public speaking, managing high caseloads in adversarial situations, and driving.
• Strong verbal communication and listening abilities.
• Exceptional written communication skills.
• Proficient negotiation skills.
• Proven conflict management capabilities.
• Ability to represent the firm effectively with external stakeholders.
• Exhibits sound judgment and decision-making abilities.
• Demonstrated skills in time management and prioritization.
• Capable of working under tight deadlines and managing time effectively.

• Skilled in utilizing technology to enhance efficiency in a virtual, paperless environment.
