This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Engages in litigation for cases of low complexity and exposure, carrying out responsibilities from initial intake through to trial and/or settlement.
• Drafts pleadings, motions, discovery documents, and briefs.
• Participates in hearings, conferences, interviews, mediations, arbitrations, and/or trials.
• Actively updates leadership on opportunities and challenges related to case handling.
• Collaborates with the Claims Department regarding the legal aspects of files.
• Undertakes additional tasks or responsibilities to promote efficient case management.
• May serve as a second chair in trials and manage trials for cases with minimal complexity and/or exposure.
• May assist senior attorneys in handling cases of greater complexity and/or exposure and may be assigned developmental tasks involving moderately complex and/or exposed matters.
• Bachelor's degree is preferred.
• Must be licensed to practice law in the relevant states at the time of hire.
• Experience in civil litigation and/or personal/bodily injury is preferred.
• Proficient in public speaking.
• Capable of functioning in adversarial or confrontational situations.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Strong verbal communication and active listening skills.
• Excellent written communication capabilities.
• Effective negotiation skills.
• Ability to represent the organization to external stakeholders.
• Exhibits sound judgment and decision-making abilities.
• Demonstrated skills in time management and prioritization.
• Possesses a strong technical aptitude.
• Proficient in utilizing technology to enhance efficiency in a virtual, paperless environment.
