Inspector/Auditor, Organic Certification

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Evaluate plans for farms, livestock, and processing/handling systems to ensure they meet the USDA National Organic Program (NOP) standards and assess the potential for adherence to other private standards (e.g., Regenerative Organic).

• Organize travel and schedule inspections for both new applicants and certified operations.

• Carry out inspections to assess compliance and generate comprehensive, precise reports.

• Effectively communicate inspection outcomes both in writing and verbally, adhering to established deadlines.

• Work collaboratively with certification staff to assist in final review decisions.

• Conduct peer evaluations of fellow inspectors as necessary.

• Engage in internal discussions aimed at the continuous enhancement of inspection methodologies.

• Travel frequently (50–75%) across the United States.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 2,000 hours of relevant education and/or experience in agriculture, food processing, or food manufacturing.

• Experience specific to organic practices is highly preferred.

• Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance documentation is essential.

• Exceptional attention to detail along with strong oral and written communication abilities.

• Capability to handle multiple tasks and adhere to deadlines without compromising quality.

• Self-sufficient, proactive, and adept at working both independently and in team environments.

• Proficient in translating complex technical information into clear, understandable language.

• Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, databases, and various IT tools.
