Inpatient Hospital Coding Specialist II

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Ensure the precise and suitable collection of data into the coding classification systems.

• Accountable for securing accurate and comprehensive documentation in the medical record to facilitate correct coding assignments.

• Tasked with coding for moderately complex patient categories, such as emergency department visits, observations, and same-day care.

• Reviews and accurately interprets medical record documentation across all hospital accounts.

• Assigns hospital codes to various patient categories, including emergency department, observation, and same-day care.

• Ensures quality and timely coding, charging, and abstraction of accounts within designated specialty areas.

• Communicates with physicians or other necessary individuals to gather information needed for precise code assignments.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.

• Active HIM or Coding Certification from ONE of the following organizations: American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) or American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC).

• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in hospital coding.
