Inpatient Facility Medical Coder

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Analyzes medical records to determine relevant diagnoses and procedures associated with the patient's healthcare visit.

• Chooses the primary diagnosis and primary procedure along with additional diagnoses and procedures in accordance with UHDDS definitions.

• Guarantees accurate DRG assignment.

• Extracts pertinent information from the medical record following established guidelines.

• Achieves productivity and quality performance standards.

• Employs Aquity applications to code charts in real-time.

• Requests clarification from the physician for unclear documentation.

• Engages in team meetings and participates in necessary training sessions.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 3 years of current or recent experience in inpatient coding.

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in an acute care setting.

• Required coding credentials: CCS, RHIA, or RHIT.

• A solid coding background with knowledge of complex diagnoses and hospital stays.

• Comprehensive understanding of ICD-10-CM and CPT coding principles and guidelines.

• Proficient in Google Suite applications.

• Knowledgeable in medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, surgical technology, pharmacology, and disease processes.
