This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Precisely code medical records for all inpatient services.
• Adhere to current ICD-10-CM and PCS coding standards.
• Accurately designate POA (Present on Admission) indicators.
• Comprehend and implement MS-DRGs and APR-DRGs.
• Abstract additional client information (e.g., providers, surgical dates, etc.).
• Effectively communicate with Clinical Documentation Improvement specialists and reconcile DRGs.
• Work independently while meeting project deadlines.
• Stay informed about new coding regulations as codes frequently change.
• Responsible for maintaining the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of protected health information.
• Adhere to HIPAA security policies and procedures relevant to your role, and report any suspected or actual violations or breaches.
• Requires prolonged periods of sitting and using a keyboard and mouse.
• Achieve and uphold department production and quality standards.
• At least 5 years of coding experience.
• Comprehensive coding experience in all aspects of inpatient coding.
• High proficiency in anatomy, physiology, disease processes, and pharmacology.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
• Detail-oriented with a strong deadline-driven mindset.
• Solid understanding of medical terminology.
• Proficient computer skills (Excel, Word, and internet).
• Ability to think critically.
• Capacity to multitask while maintaining a sense of urgency.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Strong time management, organizational skills, and work ethic.
• Certification Requirements: CIC, CCS, RHIT, or RHIA.
