Inpatient Coding Specialist, Coder III

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Evaluates medical records to ensure precise specificity of diagnoses and procedures for inpatient admissions.

• Proficiently applies ICD-10 CM and PCS codes in accordance with established coding guidelines.

• Effectively communicates with providers and relevant staff regarding any missing information, including diagnosis, procedure, and documentation issues.

• Oversees the generation of deficiencies within Epic for any incomplete documentation.

• Collaborates with leadership to assess denial reports and engages in both internal and external audits.

• Alerts the supervisor to any unusual or problematic accounts, issues, concerns, and potential areas for improvement.

• Participates in meetings and educational sessions as requested.

• Executes any other related tasks as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT).

• A minimum of three (3) years of experience in ICD-10-CM and PCS coding.

• Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR).

• Associate's degree is preferred.

• Preferred: Five (5) years of inpatient ICD-10-CM and PCS coding experience in a Teaching hospital or Level One Trauma Center.

• Preferred: Experience with Epic and Computer-Assisted Coding (CAC).
