Inpatient Coding Auditor – DRG Validation

📋 Description

• Review inpatient medical records to ensure accurate assignment of DRGs and compliance with coding standards.

• Analyze patient charts to detect inconsistencies in coding or clinical documentation.

• Guarantee coding precision in line with CMS regulations and industry coding standards.

• Perform second-level reviews of DRGs, discharge dispositions, and Present on Admission (POA) indicators before billing.

• Work collaboratively with coding teams and clinical personnel to address documentation and coding inquiries.

• Engage in coding audits and initiatives aimed at quality improvement.

• Investigate and address coding or documentation denials related to DRG assignments.

• Offer guidance and training to coding personnel on best practices in documentation and coding.

• Assist with regulatory compliance and internal audit processes.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in inpatient coding.

• Proficiency in DRG validation, auditing, or coding quality review.

• Solid understanding of clinical documentation and coding compliance standards.

• Capability to work independently in a remote setting.

• Excellent analytical and communication abilities.

• An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or a related discipline is preferred.

• Candidates must possess at least one of the following certifications: RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC, CCS-P.
