
Inpatient Coder – Critical Access

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• The Inpatient Coder is tasked with accurately abstracting data into the appropriate electronic medical record systems of the client.
• Responsible for inputting necessary abstracted patient information into the client's information system.
• Assigns Present on Admission (POA) indicators in line with AHA POA guidelines.
• Engages with physicians for queries when necessary and collaborates with Clinical Documentation staff according to account requirements.
• Maintains a consistent coding accuracy rate of 95% or higher while also adhering to productivity standards.
• Assigns the correct ICD-10-CM/PCS codes to inpatient accounts following the designated workflow.
• Abstracts and inputs coded data for hospital statistical and reporting needs.
• Communicates opportunities for documentation improvement and coding issues to relevant personnel for follow-up and resolution.
• Candidates must hold an approved AHIMA or AAPC coding credential.
• A minimum of 3 years of inpatient coding experience in a critical access hospital setting is required.
• Proficiency in ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding is essential.
• At least 3 years of coding experience within the United States is mandatory.
