This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Oversee the enterprise R&D portfolio data and analytics capabilities across internal platforms, commercial portfolio management solutions, or both.
• Collaborate with divisions to comprehend portfolio decisions and stakeholder requirements, convert them into analytical and reporting needs, formulate implementation plans, and facilitate adoption.
• Evaluate portfolio data, reporting, and workflow procedures, and implement scalable digital workflows.
• Design, develop, and improve data models, integrations, pipelines, applications, and dashboards utilizing Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, Power Apps, and Power Automate.
• Create portfolio analytics and reporting that encompass strategic alignment, trends, variances, portfolio composition, resource capacity, investment, value, project cycle times, milestone adherence, and risks.
• Manage data readiness and generate analytical content for enterprise portfolio reviews.
• Convert analytical findings into performance insights, implications, options, and recommendations.
• Establish and enhance enterprise standards for portfolio data, metrics, reporting, and digital workflows.
• Coordinate validation, problem resolution, and data-quality enhancement with divisional PMOs and other data contributors.
• Develop operating and adoption practices including testing, releases, documentation, access management, platform performance, training, communication, user support, and enhancements.
• Utilize AI-assisted development and automation for data modeling, application development, testing, documentation, analytics, and workflow execution.
• Report to the Office of the Chief Technology Officer and collaborate with R&D, PMO, Finance, and IT stakeholders.
• Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, information systems, data/analytics, computer science, or a related field is required.
• Typically requires 8+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, in business intelligence, analytics development, data solutions, portfolio systems, or related roles.
• Familiarity with project portfolio management principles and practices.
• Experience in designing, building, deploying, and supporting analytics solutions, including data models, pipelines, integrations, applications, dashboards, and production support practices.
• Proficient in Power BI, including data schemas, semantic modeling, and DAX.
• Knowledgeable in Microsoft Fabric, Power Apps, Power Automate, and advanced Excel modeling.
• Working proficiency in SQL for data extraction, transformation, validation, and troubleshooting is required.
• Experience in developing solutions within enterprise IT architecture, security, governance, and compliance frameworks.
• Skilled in analyzing, documenting, and enhancing data, reporting, or portfolio-related business processes, including workflow automation and continuous improvement.
• Experience in promoting the adoption of new data processes, digital tools, and reporting capabilities through stakeholder engagement, training, communication, and user support.
• Working knowledge of industrial R&D environments is required.
• Ability to diagnose intricate data and platform issues and create scalable, maintainable solutions.
• Capable of framing portfolio questions, testing assumptions, identifying patterns and trade-offs, and translating complex data into visualizations, implications, and recommendations.
• Proficient in converting stakeholder needs into requirements, implementation plans, improved workflows, and sustainable operating practices.
• Demonstrated ability to utilize AI-assisted development tools to enhance speed, quality, and scalability.
• Ability to foster alignment and drive adoption across a global, matrixed organization without direct authority.
• High attention to detail, disciplined follow-through, and sound judgment.
• Experience with Python or another scripting language is preferred.
• Familiarity with ERP-sourced data, such as SAP, is preferred.
• Experience in implementing, administering, configuring, or acting as the business product owner for a commercial PPM platform such as Planisware, Planview, or Clarity is preferred.
• Background in life sciences, analytical instrumentation, chemicals, medical technology, or related industries is preferred.
• Experience in implementing automated or agent-enabled workflows in an enterprise environment is preferred.
