Ingenieur – Substation Automation System

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• You will process tenders from transmission system operators (TSOs) in the field of secondary technology for high-voltage substations.

• You will plan and integrate modern control systems into complex substation environments.

• You will create SAS architectures based on IEC 61850, including GOOSE and MMS communication.

• You will configure HMI interfaces and communication networks such as fiber optic and Ethernet structures.

• You will manage interfaces with protection technology, TSO control centers, suppliers, and subcontractors.

• You will develop communication matrices, system descriptions, and technical specifications.

• You will create test protocols, prepare factory and site acceptance tests (FAT/SAT), and execute them.

• You will analyze the technical requirements of the TSOs and translate them into robust system solutions.

⛳️ Requirements

• A completed degree in electrical engineering, industrial engineering, or a comparable qualification.

• Experience in the field of control technology, Substation Automation Systems (SAS), or secondary technology.

• Proficiency in control systems such as Siemens SICAM PAS/PQS, Spectrum Power, ABB MicroSCADA, or GE Grid Solutions.

• Competence in communication standards like IEC 61850 (GOOSE, MMS, SV), Modbus, DNP3, or PROFINET.

• Knowledge of HMI/SCADA systems such as WinCC, Zenon, or Ignition.

• Familiarity with network design tools like Wireshark or Cisco Packet Tracer as well as fiber optic and Ethernet networks.

• Understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals according to IEC 62351, ISO 27001 and skill in configuring firewalls (e.g., Cisco, Fortinet).

• Fluency in both German and English.
