Information System Security Officer, Proposal

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.

📋 Description

• Assist in Assessment & Authorization (A&A) tasks to uphold system accreditation and maintain acceptable risk levels.

• Collaborate with system engineers and administrators to create corrective action plans based on findings from internal and external audits.

• Conduct regular self-assessment audits to ensure adherence to federal and agency security standards.

• Provide oversight, coordination, and reporting for cybersecurity training compliance initiatives.

• Develop and sustain system security plans (SSPs) along with other necessary security documentation.

• Execute or analyze vulnerability assessment scans and monitor mitigation efforts with system teams.

• Oversee and track Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M) activities and the progress of remediation efforts.

• Collaborate with engineers, administrators, and stakeholders to ensure the effective implementation and maintenance of security controls.

• Contribute insights through reports, briefings, and documentation to enhance compliance and executive visibility.

⛳️ Requirements

• ACTIVE SECRET CLEARANCE REQUIRED.

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in IT or cybersecurity roles, including at least 1 year in support of ISSO or security compliance functions.

• Bachelor's degree in IT, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Business, or a related field OR an Associate's degree accompanied by relevant experience and certification OR additional relevant experience in lieu of a degree.

• Familiarity with federal cybersecurity frameworks and compliance mandates (RMF, NIST, FISMA).

• Proficient in vulnerability scanning, assessment, and remediation tracking.

• Experience in developing or reviewing security documentation and system security plans.

• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
