Independent Investment Committee Member – Agriculture Investing

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.

📋 Description

• Participate in scheduled Investment Committee meetings as well as additional investment review sessions as needed.

• Analyze investment memos, due diligence results, financial models, ESG evaluations, and updates on portfolio performance.

• Offer strategic advice and constructive feedback on investment prospects within the climate adaptation and resilience sectors.

• Facilitate investment decision-making by conducting independent evaluations of risk, commercial feasibility, developmental impact, and execution factors.

• Provide counsel on governance, investment discipline, portfolio construction, and overall investment strategy.

• Contribute sector knowledge and market insights pertinent to the African climate and agriculture ecosystems.

• Assist in the advancement of the fund’s investment methodologies, diligence frameworks, and governance practices when appropriate.

• Occasionally provide advisory insights on broader portfolio or ecosystem opportunities when aligned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in venture capital, private equity, impact investing, development finance, or entrepreneurial leadership.

• Strong background in investing, advising, or managing businesses within African markets.

• Proven experience in investing, advising, or scaling enterprises in agriculture, food systems, agribusiness, agricultural value chains, or agricultural technology.

• Prior experience serving on investment committees, credit committees, advisory boards, or governance bodies.

• Comprehensive understanding of market investing dynamics and operational realities within Africa.

• Knowledge of early-stage investing, venture scaling, and founder support models is highly preferred.
