This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.
• Take ownership of all elements related to income tax compliance, which includes reviewing the consolidated U.S. federal corporate income tax return and associated supporting workpapers.
• Examine state and local income and franchise tax returns, encompassing combined, unitary, and separate filings to ensure accuracy and timely submissions.
• Evaluate international tax filings and information returns, including Forms 5471, 8865, and other mandatory international disclosures.
• Review quarterly estimated income tax payments, extension calculations, and related submissions.
• Oversee and review the annual income tax provision in line with ASC 740, including calculations for current and deferred taxes, effective tax rate analysis, and associated disclosures.
• Collaborate with external tax advisors for outsourced income tax compliance and provision tasks, reviewing deliverables and managing expectations to guarantee deadlines are met.
• Responsible for upholding the Income Tax Calendar to ensure that all compliance and reporting deadlines are monitored and achieved.
• Review income tax-related journal entries and account reconciliations while partnering with Accounting during the year-end close.
• Manage income tax audits and examinations, preparing and reviewing responses to information requests and notices from tax authorities.
• Stay updated on changes in federal, state, and international income tax laws and regulations to evaluate their impact on the business.
• Identify and facilitate income tax planning opportunities.
• Enhance and refine income tax compliance and provision processes, including documentation and technology utilization, to boost efficiency and precision.
• Provide guidance, training, and review work conducted by tax analysts or other tax team members, as necessary.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Over 7 years of income tax experience in public accounting and/or a corporate tax department.
• Experience in managing both direct reports and external service providers.
• Strong technical understanding of U.S. federal and state income taxation along with ASC 740.
• Proven experience in reviewing consolidated corporate income tax returns.
• Highly professional demeanor.
• Strong organizational and project management abilities.
• Extensive knowledge of income tax accounting concepts, including valuation allowance and uncertain tax position analysis.
• Documented success in managing both income tax compliance and provision functions.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with a keen attention to detail and emphasis on accuracy.
• Ability to effectively convey complex tax concepts to non-tax professionals in senior leadership roles throughout the organization.
• Capacity to work independently and manage multiple projects at the same time.
