Import Agent – Air Freight Operations

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.

📋 Description

• Oversee and reply to emails related to shipments.

• Input shipment alerts and customer inquiries into the TMS system.

• Provide updates on shipments to customers, dispatch, warehouse teams, and drivers.

• Proactively follow up when updates are delayed.

• Contact drivers, dispatch teams, or warehouse personnel directly for urgent updates when necessary.

• Ensure that all communications are accurate, professional, and timely.

• Enter shipment details into Crown Freight Manager.

• Print and distribute pertinent shipment documents and requests.

• Update operational spreadsheets with the latest shipment statuses and customer inquiries.

• Track and communicate warehouse service requests and changes to shipments.

• Maintain precise operational notes and logs.

• Facilitate coordination between customers and warehouse/dispatch teams.

• Appropriately escalate operational issues when necessary.

• Prioritize urgent shipments based on their operational significance.

• Assist with time-sensitive import recovery workflows.

• Aid in routing instructions and coordination of shipment statuses.

• Differentiate between urgent and non-urgent tasks.

• Prioritize truckers already on-site over future or pending shipments.

• Ensure that high-priority requests are communicated immediately to the operations team.

• Execute repetitive operational processes with consistency and precision.

⛳️ Requirements

• Previous experience in logistics, freight forwarding, dispatch support, trucking coordination, or import operations is preferred.

• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.

• Capacity to think logically and prioritize tasks effectively.

• Comfort in managing repetitive operational workflows.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

• Comfortable making calls to drivers, warehouse teams, and customers.

• Keen attention to detail.

• Ability to thrive in fast-paced, time-sensitive environments.

• Nice-to-Haves

• Experience in air import or airport cargo.

• Familiarity with trucking dispatch teams.

• Knowledge of shipment tracking systems or TMS platforms.

• Background in customer operations support.

• Understanding of freight terminology (MAWB/HAWB, bonded cargo, etc.).
