HPC Network Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Japan.

📋 Description

• Assist in the design, deployment, configuration, and upkeep of InfiniBand and Ethernet network infrastructures.

• Diagnose intricate network challenges, encompassing connectivity, latency, routing, and performance deterioration across hybrid settings.

• Oversee and enhance switches, Host Channel Adapters (HCAs), subnet managers, and fabric setups.

• Execute, manage, and troubleshoot network security and firewall technologies, including Fortinet FortiGate and VPNs.

• Monitor network performance, conduct performance optimization, and aid in capacity planning for HPC and AI networking systems.

• Work collaboratively with compute, storage, and platform teams to facilitate HPC and AI workloads.

• Engage in incident response and participate in on-call support activities.

• Propel long-term operational enhancements.

• Document network architectures, configurations, and operational processes.

• Utilize automation tools such as Ansible and Terraform to optimize workflows.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in networking, systems engineering, or data center infrastructure positions.

• Strong comprehension of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, switching, VLANs, QoS, and network architecture.

• Practical experience or solid familiarity with Linux operating systems and command-line utilities.

• Proficient verbal and written communication abilities in English.

• Capability to collaborate effectively in a global team setting.

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

• Preferred: exposure to or practical experience with InfiniBand fabrics and high-performance networking principles, including NVIDIA/Mellanox.

• Preferred: knowledge of or certifications in enterprise firewall technologies, including Fortinet FCSS/FCNSP, CCNP/CCIE.

• Preferred: experience with large-scale HPC clusters, AI/ML infrastructure, or distributed systems environments.

• Preferred: understanding of RDMA, MPI, and low-latency networking principles.

• Preferred: proficiency in Python or Bash and Infrastructure-as-Code tools for automation.
