Hotel Baker

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alaska.

📋 Description

• Preparing and baking a variety of breads, pastries, and other baked goods.

• Assisting with food service operations at the Qavartarvik Customer Lodge.

• Working on a schedule of 4 weeks on and 4 weeks off.

• Preparing food according to par level sheets and in compliance with Nutritional Services and Health Department standards.

• Following standardized recipes to meet nutritional requirements.

• Presenting all items attractively with appropriate garnishes and correct portion sizes.

• Participating in daily temperature and taste panels to ensure quality.

• Producing a wide array of bakery products within a general food service area.

• Assisting with pastry preparations, which include mixing, baking, and frying.

• Ensuring portion control for all produced items.

• Aiding in the preparation of bakery and specialty products.

• Communicating any necessary adjustments to bakery production records or sheets.

• Coordinating with supervisory personnel for product ordering.

• Maintaining a clean and organized storeroom area with all products appropriately labeled, dated, and rotated.

• Adhering to proper sanitation, safety, and operational procedures for the assigned area.

• Cleaning personal work area regularly.

• Must be capable of operating the dish-washing machine if needed.

• Actively participating in performance improvement activities.

• May assist colleagues during staffing shortages.

• Performing other duties as assigned by the Management Team.

⛳️ Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.

• A minimum of two (2) years of proven baking experience or vocational training.

• Ability to follow standardized written recipes.

• Knowledge/training in the use of food production and baking equipment.

• Alaska Food Handler's Card required within 30 days of hire.

• Contract stipulates that the candidate must receive a flu shot prior to hire and annually thereafter.

• Employees must be able to speak, understand, read, and write in English.
